Picking up a habit from elsworthy... at least I think she's the one who brought The Friday Five to my attention...

1. What do you most want to be remembered for?

That's tricky. I want my boys to remember me fondly as a terrific mother. I want my friends to remember me as the quiet, composed one with one hell of a personal library. And I want my husband to remember me as a vision of perfection.

Looks like I have a lot of work to do...

2. What quotation best fits your outlook on life?

Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition! [grin] I typed that as a joke, but after some thought I think it's wise to remember that silly people can barge into your life at any moment and it's wise to always keep an absurd sense of humor.

3. What single achievement are you most proud of in the past year?

Keeping our family happy and in good shape during a couple months of seeing Mike only on weekends and then moving across the state.

4. What about the past ten years?

Until the past year, I took this for granted but Mike and I will celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary this August. We've been through some rough periods but, overall, the good times have far outnumbered the bad. Looking back I can see the efforts we have made to ensure each others' happiness and the rather remarkable teamwork that binds us. It may have been chance that brought us together but we've worked hard to maintain our marriage.

5. If you were asked to give a child a single piece of advice to guide them through life, what would you say?

Everything you do has consequences. It's like throwing a rock into a pond and watching the concentric ripples spread outward. Sometimes we're aware of the impact of our decisions but oftentimes it's the casual ones that don't seem to be a big deal that come back to bite us.
